BOTOX AND FILLERS
Botulinum toxin, commonly referred to as “botox” injections causes the injected muscles to relax. This helps soften or remove deep wrinkles caused by muscle movement on the forehead, frown-line, crow’s feet, and bunny lines. It can also be used for facial contouring for a more slender face and mild lifting (‘mini-facelift’) effect. To maintain this effect may require 2-3 treatments a year. Botox can also be used for body contouring for more slender shoulders and calves.
Fillers. As we age, fat and collagen are lost and facial bones resorb causing facial sagging. We commonly use non-permanent fillers (made of Hyaluronic acid) that may last 4-6 months upto 1 year for both safety and adjustability to the aging face. Fillers are meant to bring back the lost volume from aging.
CONTOURING (Face and Body)
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical procedure, which involves multiple injections of a cocktail of pharmaceutical, homeopathic medications, and plant extracts into the subcutaneous fat. This causes the breakdown of fat cells (lipolysis), causing a slimming effect. Better results can be seen when combined with Radio Frequency.
Radio Frequency is a non-invasive procedure using RF waves in the form of heat to target and dissolve fat cells. It also causes skin tightening by stimulating collagen production and collagen contraction. This procedure takes 30-60 minutes depending on the area to be treated. Aerobic exercises and increase water intake are encouraged after the procedure.
ELECTROCAUTERY
Electrocautery also destroys syringomas, sebaceous hyperplasias, and other noncancerous lesions on the skin. Syringoma is a benign skin tumor or bumps on the skin derived from sweat glands. Sebaceous hyperplasia are yellowish, soft, small papule on the nose, cheeks, and forehead from hyperactivity of oil glands.
Warts are viruses called HPV (or Human papilloma virus) that may look like a cauliflower or a solid blister on the skin. It can affect any part of the body and can be communicable (ie. via skin-to-skin contact, common use of towels). We offer electrocautery (ECT), which remains the standard of treatment for warts removal. The procedure is painless with the help of local anesthetics. The duration of the procedure varies.
MINOR SURGERY
Extraction of skin lesions, such as Milia, is a simple procedure of removing the small superficial harmless cysts made of keratin (skin protein).
Excision (With or Without Biopsy). Excision means surgically removing minor skin lesions such as Moles, Cysts and Skin tags, etc. with a surgical blade and requires closing with minimal stitches. A skin biopsy is done for skin lesions that are suspected of being cancerous or to clarify the diagnosis. Extraction is done to remove materials trapped inside the skin such as in Acne, Molluscum contagiosum, and Milia. ‘Acne surgery’ is a medical term we use which simply means to extract acne.
Incision means surgically removing fluid or cysts trapped under the skin using a surgical blade, with or without stitching.
Kanolone is a steroid solution with anti-inflammatory effects that is injected into Keloids, Acne, and Alopecia areata (autoimmune hair loss). These steroid injections are given every 1-2 weeks apart and can be combined with other treatments such as topical medications and lasers.
PIMPLE TREATMENT
Acne vulgaris or simply acne (pimples) is common to teens but can also affect us all throughout adulthood. Persistent acne can cause permanent acne scars and loss of self-confidence. Treatment for acne includes medications, acne surgery, chemical peels (facial procedures) or a combination of these. Early or aggressive treatments are advised. We personalize our acne treatments to fit your needs.
WHITENING TREATMENT
Glutathione, when absorbed systemically, causes whitening of the skin all over, reduction of age spots and other skin blemishes, resulting in flawless, radiant and youthful-looking skin. Vitamin C and other anti-oxidants also help brighten the skin.
Chemical peeling helps decrease superficial scars caused by acne/chicken pox, and improve dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun-damage and aging.
AHA Peels -- Provide superficial peeling of the skin to give you the brightening and whitening effect without the downtime of seeing large areas of peeling skin.
BHA Peels -- Used for oily skin conditions such as acne. The effect of BHA peels helps hasten the drying up of pimples.
TCA Peels. Causes deeper peels and are good for scars caused by acne, chicken pox, and traumatic wounds. The skin peels off as larger scales, which eventually lighten dark areas and level off deep scars.
PCA Peels -- A combination of several chemicals that work best together to cause improvement in skin pigmentation and texture. There are peels made for sensitive skin and those for aggressive treatments.
Diamond peel is a mild facial procedure ridding it of dirt and removing dead skin cells using an abrasive tip to improve skin texture and rejuvenate the skin. This procedure is done to gradually reduce fine lines and wrinkles and superficial pigmentation.
VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT
Sclerotherapy is the standard of treatment for varicose veins, which include spider veins and small veins of the lower extremities. This entails injecting a sclerosant or a solution into the veins to cause them to shut or close. Compression stockings are required to prevent further varicose veins to erupt in the future.
